Hockey: South Lakes Men’s 0 - 6 Rochdale Men’s

Date published: 28 November 2017

Rochdale really pushed on in impressive style winning away at South Lakes Mens.

The game started with Rochdale's backs against the wall, but with a defensive line up of James Deacy in goal, Daniel Bowe, Andrew Borritt, Danny Ramsbottom and Jonathan Herreran, South Lakes never looked like scoring.

Time and time again the Rochdale back four made perfectly timed challenges and picked off every South Lakes attack.

Twice in quick succession Rochdale turned defence in to attack with James Shepherd scoring each time, and he was unlucky not to get a first half hat trick with a third disallowed.

As Rochdale began to pin South Lakes back in to their own half, Mark Eden sneaked up unmarked from the Rochdale back four and latching on to an inch perfect ball from Herreran he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in to the empty net.

Rochdale were dominant, with Michael Waddicor, Rob Lees and Kieran King taking control of the middle of the pitch and went into the half half time break three up.

Further Rochdale goals from Waddicor, and a brace from Dave Gowers, doubled the Rochdale tally in the second half.

Captain Michael Waddicor said: "The whole team were great, the work rate, attitude and team work were all excellent."

The Oulder Hill Sports Complex man-of-the-match award went to James Shepherd.
