Judo: Rochdale Judo Club medals at Cheshire and Manchester Closed County Championships

Rochdale Judo Club members won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Cheshire and Manchester Closed County Championships at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.
Dave Hulme, Jack Sheppard, Christopher Lau, Jake Brearley and Maddie Merchant won gold, Callum Platt, Dominic Lau and Liam Ellis won silver and Luke Giller and Daisy Winter won bronze.
Luke Giller, who competed in the open weight category, said: “I beat two Dan grades, one being the guy who got second place, and lost one fight.
“I come away with a bronze medal and 20 points towards my Dan grade.
“Not a bad day.”
Michelle Sheppard, welfare officer at Rochdale Judo Club, said: "What a great day."
