Samir Tahraoui in action for Hornets

Samir Tahraoui and Jo Taira are facing a stint on the side lines as both players received bans in the wake of the Easter Weekend.

Tahraoui has been charged with a Grade C dangerous throw, which relates to an incident in the first half of the Swinton match on Monday.

Joe Taira has been charged with Grade B punching.

Both players have an early guilty plea (EGP) available to them.

Jordan Hand has no case to answer following his yellow card at Swinton.

Jono Smith and Danny Yates will also face no further actions after Smith was placed on report on Good Friday against Sheffield while Yates was reported on Monday.

Head coach, Alan Kilshaw said he was pleased that both Hand and Yates had no case to answer following the abuse they received following the game.

He said: “I’m glad both Danny and Jordan have been cleared of any wrong doing as they were subject to a lot of abuse and post-match comments implied that they had deliberately injured Swinton players which is totally absurd. We are glad that both Swinton players have been given the all clear.”

The Hornets coach has been in dialogue with the referee’s coach, Steve Presley, and he has admitted that Hand’s yellow card was incorrect and was perplexed as to how referee, Tom Grant, awarded a Swinton penalty after the incident.

Kilshaw also paid tribute to Taira who has worked hard to control his aggression over the past year since joining Hornets from local amateurs, Rochdale Mayfield.

He said: “Both Samir and Joe will take EGPs. Samir’s was clumsy and there was no malice in it. It was just a case of big man on little man and unfortunately the Swinton player landed in a poor position.

“Jo has had much improved discipline this season and has admitted he was disappointed with how he reacted in the heat of the moment.”
