Hornets head into the Lion's den

Date published: 17 April 2017

Rochdale Hornets make the short trip to Heywood Road to take on local rivals Swinton Lions in an Easter Monday clash that Hornets need to win having lost their last five outings.

It was a first half collapse which led to their latest loss against Sheffield Eagles, with two late tries at the end of the first half putting the contest out of sight.

An improvement in the second half wasn’t enough and there is no time to lick their wounds as they face a short turnaround and a local derby this Easter Monday.

The Lions have picked up just one win from their first 10 games of the season, edging out Dewsbury Rams 8-6 away from home.

Since then they have lost eight league games in a row.

For Hornets, Jo Taira, Miles Greenwood and Chris Riley will be assessed ahead of the clash as they could be set for a return from injury, however, Gavin Bennion will be unavailable after suffering a concussion on Good Friday.
