Dale Chairman’s rallying call

Rochdale Football Club’s Chairman Chris Dunphy has put out a heartfelt plea to the people of Rochdale to come along and witness exactly what is going on at Spotland and save some cash in the process.
Manager Keith Hill and his team have shaken off every belittling label of the Spotland outfit since taking over the managerial reins four and a half years ago and continue to re-write the Dale history books following an excellent season in League One.
Now on the verge of a magnificent place in the play-off's the club has launched a three games for two offer to help get supporters up to the ground and ease the financial burden on those who have supported the club all season.
"We appreciate that times are hard around the country and Rochdale isn't escaping the recession," said Dunphy.
"We've had a look at how we could help supporters without putting the club in financial jeopardy and have come up with a three games for two package to help ease the financial burden somewhat.
"It is also gives us an opportunity to get more supporters to Spotland and let them witness the kind of football been served up by Keith and his players because many of those who are staying away this season are missing some of the best times ever seen at the club.
"These are halcyon days at Spotland, we have never, in all our history had times like this and sadly the football people in Rochdale are missing out. I'd dearly love to see those people come out and support their town because we have a team to be proud of and we are rewriting history.
"We do need the town to get behind us, we are in a great position in the league and the lads need that support to help push them over the line.
"Over the last four years or so since Keith and Dave took over things have progressed very quickly and this football club is no longer 'little old' Rochdale. This team is respected and this season has showed that this isn't just a flash in the pan side, we have continued to progress and we want to maintain that. Continue your support in the future and we can make the good times great times.
"We are taking the so called big teams on and beating them, we have maintained a very comfortable position in League One and we in touching distance of a place in the play-offs with the chance to play in the Championship next season.
"Just saying that fills me with excitement and five years ago you'd have probably had to cart me off for making such a statement. It is a measure of how far we have come in such a short time but to keep the momentum going we are going to need more support.
"This is a direct plea to the people of Rochdale, we'd love to see at Spotland and I'm sure if you take the opportunity to come along you'll love it. We have a big game against Southampton on Tuesday night and then the final three home games with a fantastic 3-4-2 offer.
"This is a wonderful time to be a Dale fan so please come along and give us your support and who knows where the journey will take us."
