Councillor Andy Kelly and the Milnrow & Newhey Liberal Democrats won a national award for best ward campaign at the 2015 Liberal Democrat Conference in Bournemouth last week.
The award was presented to the team by Sir Simon Hughes in recognition for the campaign 2015 local elections where Councillor Kelly won by 720 votes.
Ex Mayor and former council leader Irene Davidson, who was Councillor Kelly’s agent, said: “The whole campaign in Milnrow & Newhey was based around listening to residents’ concerns and ideas and acting upon them.
"The award recognises the team's ongoing efforts in working for local people throughout the year.”
A cash prize comes with the award which the team say will be put straight back into campaigning.
