16-year-old boy attacked and robbed

Date published: 29 July 2015

A 16-year-old boy was attacked and had his mobile phone stolen as he walked on Albert Royds Street.

As he walked over the railway bridge at 11.00pm on Saturday 25 July 2015, he was attacked from behind and knocked to the floor.

He was assaulted again and his mobile phone was stolen before the attackers got into a blue BMW and drove off.

One man is described as being white, of medium build, had blue eyes, wore a black leather jacket, blue jeans, light brown shoes and had his face covered.

The second is described as being white, of large build, wore dark grey matching Adidas jacket and trousers with blue stripes. He also wore Adidas trainers.

Police Constable Chris Eardley said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack that left the victim with severe bruising to the face. We believe a weapon has been used to assault him and he is understandably nervous about going out on his own.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the attack to call us as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the offenders get into a blue BMW 3 series parked on Kingsway Retail Park to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8549 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
