Nominations sought for the Rochdale Borough Sports and Culture Awards

Nominations are being sought for the Rochdale Borough Sports and Culture Awards 2014/15.

If you know a person, club or organisation that has made a difference through sport and culture in your neighbourhood or community, then you can nominate them for an award.

Gillian Bishop, Link4Life Chief Executive, said: “We have so many sports clubs and volunteers in the borough who improve people’s lives and many talented athletes, so we want to make sure they get the recognition they deserve. We also want to recognise the wonderful work created and promoted by arts champions, facilitators, cultural groups and organisations in the borough of Rochdale."

The sports award categories for nomination are:

• Volunteer of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Sports Achiever of the Year
• Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year
• Club of the Year
• Unsung Hero Award
• Changing Lifestyles Recognition of the Year in Sport

The culture award categories for nomination are:

• Volunteer of the Year
• Facilitator of the Year
• Achiever of the Year In Culture
• Disabled Achiever of the Year in Culture
• Arts Organisation of the Year
• Unsung Hero Award
• Changing Lifestyles Recognition of the Year in Culture

Nominations should cover achievements during the period September 2014 to September 2015. The criteria is set on the quality of the nomination and not the number of nominations each individual gets. Individuals, clubs and organisation can nominate themselves.

Closing date for all nominations is Wednesday 16 September 2015.

All nominees and winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at Middleton Arena on Thursday 8 October 2015.
