Date published: 27 July 2015

The Springhill Hospice Summer Serenade, held in the grounds of the Hospice on Saturday (25 July), was attended by over 150 people.

Those in attendance settled down with friends, a picnic and a complimentary glass of wine to listen to a variety of music from the 1940s to present day performed by Rochdale Community Wind Band, Heywood’s Community Choir Voice, GMP Male Voice Choir and Shelley Byrne, who volunteered go along after hearing that the event was on the anniversary of her father’s death, who died at the Hospice five years ago.

Guest Beryl Lloyd said: “I had a fantastic evening shared with my lovely friends, whilst being entertained by the boroughs finest, while sat in the glorious Hospice summery grounds.”

Melanie Caffrey, Fundraiser for Springhill Hospice, said: "We had an absolutely splendid night and we can't thank Ian Jenkins [compère] and all of the acts involved enough for coming along to entertain everyone so wonderfully.”
