Operation Olympus nets 362 offenders

Police arrested 362 people as part of a five-day crackdown on wanted offenders.

More than 300 officers took part in Operation Olympus, which took place from 22-26 June 2015.

Offenders were arrested for a range of crimes including burglary, theft, assault, harassment, fraud, indecency and domestic abuse.

Divisional staff were supported throughout the week by specialist resources including ANPR Intercept officers, dogs and tactical aid unit.

Superintendent Craig Thompson said: “The results of Operation Olympus send a clear message to those wanted by police that it is only a matter of time before they are caught.

“I’d also like to warn anyone who harbours someone that they are assisting an offender and this is something we take very seriously indeed.

“Although Operation Olympus has finished, work continues on a daily basis to locate those trying to evade capture so please do the right thing and hand yourself in, or pass any information onto the police or Crimestoppers.”
