Inspector Michelle Hughes...

Priorities for us this week is to continue our support to victims of domestic violence and aim to reduce burglaries and vehicle crimes.

Dispersal Notices Rochdale Town Centre

Earlier in the week in order to act upon numerous complaints regarding street drinkers, beggars and general anti-social behaviour dispersal notices were issued in the Town Centre from 19 May at 9am to 21 May 9am.

A further three notices were issued from 20 May at 11:45am for a 48 period.

The notices have proven to be a success and feedback from the local shops has been positive. We assure the shop owners and public will continue to monitor the area and act swiftly should any further problems arise.

Burglaries

We remain committed to doing everything we can to prevent burglary and the movement of stolen property, we continue to target offenders and promote initiatives to prevent offences taking place.

I would also urge residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious people, vehicles or activity in their neighbourhood. You know your own neighbourhood and what looks right and what is out of place.

Vehicle Crimes

These have decreased considerably this past week due to our patrols targeting the hot spot areas and we would like to assure the public we remain dedicated to apprehending and bringing those responsible to justice.

Charges/arrests of note

Sam O’Neill, a prolific Rochdale offender, was arrested this week for revoking the terms and conditions of his licence and conveyed back to prison.

Shadidul Islam, 22, from Rochdale answered his bail yesterday and has since been charged with fraud by false representation. Islam has been bailed to appear at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates Court 17 July.

Crime Prevention Advice

Although vehicle crime has decreased this week we still encourage the public to be extra vigilant and to remove or hide valuables from view – please don’t tempt a thief.
