Crime prevention advice: Distraction burglary

Do not allow strangers into your home. Distraction thieves are excellent conmen and usually work in twos or threes. They will con their way into your home and keep you occupied whilst the other(s) steals from you.

If your parents are elderly please warn them of the dangers as sadly most are trusting and do not recognise the signs. Please ensure your elderly family members or friends are safe and stay safe.

Burglaries

Once the weather improves and the need to open windows and doors arise please ‘think safety first’.

Should you wish to open your back door, only do so when you are present in the room and if you leave the room shut it and lock it. Try not to leave your windows open when you leave your house, even if you’re only a few minutes away.

There are career burglars and opportunists waiting for the chance to steal from you. Don’t make your property a target, don’t make it easy for them.
