Graham Feehan raising money for The Christie

Date published: 03 March 2015

Graham Feehan is hoping to raise at least £1,000 for The Christie by selling a CD he has made.

Graham, from Norden, who received treatment at The Christie when battling lung cancer and a brain tumour in 2013, wants to raise the money to thank the Christie and their staff for all of their hard work.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, Graham said: “The Christie are amazing and do amazing work and I wanted to thank them for that and I thought why not raise the money by doing something I love.”

Having played music for a number of years and being inspired by a variety of artists, Graham decided to make the CD by himself.

“This was also a way for me to get my music out there as well as raising the money. Music is always something I have loved and had a passion for. All of the songs on the CD are original pieces and are written and performed by me. The only thing I didn’t do was play the Bass. Pete from Studio Studio in Whitworth did that for me and he was brilliant,” said Graham.

To start making the CD, Graham converted his son’s bedroom into a makeshift studio before heading to Studio Studio in Whitworth to complete the finished product.

Graham added: “There is an inspirational theme behind the CD and I didn’t start off intending that to happen but when you sit down and look back over things, you realise there is a lot of negativity in the world and at the time that I started this, I was very angry and full of every emotion possible.

“I have also spent time reading inspirational books, some being about cancer and some not but I do think that is something everyone should do in their lives. Doing this project also gave me inspiration when I was struggling the most.”

Graham started recording the CD in January 2014 and it is now available to buy with every penny raised going directly to The Christie.

“I am very pleased with the outcome and am pleased that I got to do something that I love again.

"We are doing well in finding treatments for cancer and I am hoping that can only get better so whatever I raise will be brilliant,” said Graham.
