Heywood Township Committee meeting as it happened

Date published: 03 March 2015

Monday 2 March

The open forum starts the meeting.

Issues regarding protest walks, diabetic eye screenings, The Phoenix Centre, planning decisions, police issues and the Memorial Gardens are discussed.

A presentation on the Rochdale Borough Flood Resilience Community Pathfinder is next.

The presentation is to inform residents of the work undertaken to stop flooding issues in Heywood.

The Pathfinder that is in the Borough of Rochdale is one of 13 approved nationwide.

Flooding issues in Heywood usually stem from surface water issues and the complex drainage in Heywood.

Councillor Colin Lambert said: “It is a credit to Rochdale that we are one of the Pathfinders. It was crucial that we got this Pathfinder.”

The Disposal of Surplus Land adjacent to 22 Sandiway, Heywood is next.

The report asks councillors to agree the sale of the land.

The area is a grassy area that could be potentially used for a car parking space.

Councillor Liam O’Rourke said: “I have no problem agreeing to the sale of the land. If it gives help to a resident and it saves us some money then I have no problem.”

Councillors agreed the sale of the land.

Meeting ended.
