Date published: 01 March 2015

The Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) have agreed to clean up areas of Wardleworth.

The latest clean-up was agreed by the group at the monthly meeting held by the Rochdale Council of Mosques last week, in which representatives of local mosques and members of the Lancashire Council of Mosques attended.

Members of the Lancashire Council of Mosques have also agreed to join forces with the group for recycling purposes as well helping to promote the improvement of the environment in Lancashire.

Two youths have also recently joined REAG for 12 weeks and will work with the group to learn more about environmental issues.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary of REAG, thanked the Rochdale Council of Mosques, the Lancashire Council of Mosques and the two youths for their support and co-operation in improving the environment of the Borough of Rochdale.

He said: “We all have a duty to keep our town tidy. The Borough of Rochdale is our home as well as our future generations' home. Spending a few minutes every day in cleaning the front and rear of properties and businesses, planting flowers, educating our children and members of the community will make the Borough of Rochdale a beautiful and flowery town.

"Anyone interested in joining REAG on their latest clean-up are more than welcome to attend.”

The clean-up will take place on Sunday 7 March at 10am on Bulwer Street, Wardleworth.
