Man tied up and threatened with machetes

Date published: 18 December 2014

A Middleton man was tied up and threatened by two men armed with machetes and another with an axe who demanded to be given jewellery.

At around 8.20pm on Friday 12 December 2014, they dragged the 47-year-old man upstairs and tied up his arms and legs before they forced his wedding ring off his finger.

They took a number of items of jewellery, including watches, bracelets, a tablet and wallet.

All three walked back downstairs before they took the keys to his black Seat Leon and drove off.

The victim managed to untie his hands before he called police.

All three men are described as being white, in their late teens/early 20s, wore dark clothing with one wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable Heidi Edge said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim. These men walked into his home, threatened him with weapons and then tied him up before taking his personal property.

“We have not found the car yet and would ask anyone who may have seen the offenders either drive off in a Seat Leon with a KY08 registration or witness them abandon the car to call police.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8701 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
