Connor Dunning raising money to help the homeless

Date published: 13 December 2014

Connor Dunning, from Rochdale, is on a mission to help the homeless this Christmas and is baking cakes to raise money for a homeless charity.

Ten-year-old Connor, who often raises money for charity, is aiming to raise £100 for Barnabus in Manchester.

Michelle Hardacker, Connor’s mum, said: “He has said that he wants to raise about £100 but knowing Connor he will raise more than that.”

Barnabus is a Christian Homeless Charity that started 23 years ago. The charity is now offering a lifeline to 600 visiting homeless and vulnerable people each week.

Connor decided on his latest fundraising mission after hearing about the homeless on TV and in school.

“I think he heard about it at school and he saw something on TV and it broke his heart so he decided he wanted to help,” added Michelle.

Connor baked the cakes after school on Thursday (11 December) and sold them in and around school.

Michelle said: “Once the 100 are sold, I think he wants to bake more and keep going until he has raised as much as he can. He originally wanted me to walk the streets of London with him feeding the homeless but I told him that unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.”
