All invited to Christmas carol service

Date published: 01 December 2014

The festive spirit will soon be in full swing when the Mayor of Rochdale’s Civic Carol Service takes place in Heywood.

The Mayor, Councillor Carol Wardle, is inviting everyone to the ever popular evening at St Joseph’s R.C.Church at 7pm on Wednesday 10 December. The service will be followed by the chance to feast on mulled wine and mince pies at TOPS Business Centre.

The event, organised in conjunction with Churches Together, will feature traditional Christmas carols, accompanied by Whitworth and Healey Brass Band. There will also be a collection for the Mayor’s charity appeal, which is raising funds for Springhill Hospice, Moorland Home and Youth Link.

Encouraging people to come along, the Mayor said: “The service is sure to be a very enjoyable evening, always a very special occasion and really puts you into the Christmas spirit. I hope as many as possible will come along and enjoy the service, which brings together people of all ages to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. I would like to extend a welcome to everyone to come along and enjoy some heart-warming festive carol singing."

The carol service is free and begins at 7pm, although guests are asked to be seated by 6.45pm.

As is traditional at the event, following the service everyone is invited to join the Mayor for a drink of festive mulled wine and warmed mince pie at TOPS Business Centre on Hind Hill Street, Heywood.
