Sgt Rahees Ramzan shines on Senior Cadet Instruction Cadre

Date published: 17 November 2014

Rochdale Cadet Sgt Rahees Ramzan recently took part in a Senior Cadet Instructor Cadre and finished one of the top five cadets on the course.

The course took place at Altcar Training Camp in Liverpool over a week and saw Sgt Ramzan take part in a number of activities and lessons.

On the first day of the course, the cadets were split into groups and were introduced to their team leaders from the Cadet Training Team.

The first half of the day was a presentation on Cadet Force Instructional Technique (CFIT) which ensured that all cadets were aware of the qualities needed and how to engage different groups of people with different learning abilities.

After this was completed, the cadets were taken to the classrooms to start the real work.

Sgt Ramzan said: “Over the next few days we were each given lessons which we then had to prepare, rehearse and deliver.”

Sgt Ramzan’s lessons were:

Safe Use of a Weapon
Normal Safety Precautions (NSPs)
Navigation
Fieldcraft

The first two lessons were classroom based with fieldcraft delivered in the training area. As part of the fieldcraft lesson, Sgt Ramzan spent one night out on the training area sleeping under bashers.

He said: “I was tasked with the role of second in command (2iC) of my section. This was a huge responsibility where I was given respect and was listened to by my peers.”

The final day of the course saw families attend the cadets passing out parade with awards being presented by the Commandant of GMACT, Colonel Mike Glover.

In a meeting before the presentation, Sgt Ramzan was told that not only were his lessons highly competent but he was one of the top five cadets on the course.

Since completing the course, Sgt Ramzan has been selected by GMACT as an ambassador for GMACF and the Army Cadet Force (ACF). This included him travelling to France and Belgium on a Battlefield Study at the beginning of November.
