Bev Worthington receives award for mentoring

Date published: 06 November 2014

Bev Worthington, Director of Workforce and Organisational Development at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, was given the Services to Mentoring award at the NHS North West Mentoring Scheme Annual Conference and Awards 2014.

Ms Worthington, who has more than 35 years of clinical, managerial and leadership experience, was commended for her commitment to mentoring and coaching NHS staff, many of which have gone on to become senior NHS leaders. She also uses her expertise outside the organisation, dedicating some of her time to coaching individuals working in other senior public sector roles.

Ms Worthington said: “I feel very lucky to already get a great deal of motivation and personal satisfaction from the mentoring and coaching aspect of my job role so to be nominated for an award and go on to win was a fantastic surprise.”

Michael McCourt, Chief Executive of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It’s vital that Pennine Care staff have access to high quality mentor and coaching support, and Bev’s contribution to our coaching scheme has been enormous. She is a trusted and valued member of the Board and an exceptional role model and mentor for NHS leaders of the future. The award was well deserved.”

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is a mental health and community services provider, delivering services in Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop, and Trafford.
