M6 show set to Sparkle at international children's theatre festival

Date published: 24 October 2014

M6 Theatre Company’s production of Mavis Sparkle is set to wow audiences at the Royal Theatre of The Hague from 24 – 26 October, as part of De Betovering, The Enchantment International Children’s Arts Festival.

The production centres around Mavis Sparkle, played by Eve Robertson - an extraordinary cleaning lady. With a feather duster in one hand and a few tricks up her sleeve, Mavis is on a magical journey north, to see nature’s biggest light show with her own eyes. With a little help from her cheeky cuckoo clock, mischievous mop bucket and a nice cup of tea, Mavis reaches for the stars and moves ever closer to making her dream come true.

Designer and Production Manager, Joss Matzen and Co-Creator/ Director Gilly Baskeyfield are accompanying Mavis on her travels and are excited to be bringing a little M6 sparkle to The Hague.

Joss Matzen commented: "De Betovering is an amazing platform for International children's touring theatre. We are thrilled to been invited and to be sharing the bill with so many other leading innovators in theatre, music and dance for young audiences."

Creators of the show, Dot Wood and Gilly Baskeyfield said of the show: “Alongside children's stories of princes and princesses, superheroes and villains, there are also wonderful, magical stories of everyday characters with special qualities, dreams and adventures. M6’s Mavis Sparkle is a story full of laughter, transformation and joy. Mavis reminds us that if we dust beneath the surface, we might find there’s magic in the most unexpected places! We hope the audiences at The Hague enjoy the show.”

M6 Theatre Company, founded in 1977 and based in Rochdale, is acknowledged as one of Britain’s leading touring theatre companies specialising in creating and delivering high quality theatre for young audiences.

Mavis Sparkle is suitable for children aged 5+ and their families. During 2013, Mavis Sparkle completed a UK sell out tour.
