Chips and beer

Date published: 24 October 2014

What could be better than beer and chips? How about cooking chips with the beer?

Here is a simple and healthy recipe that is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large Maris Piper potatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Timothy Taylor Landlord ale or other craft beer
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preheat oven 220C

  • Scrub and clean potatoes with skins on
  • Cut potatoes to desired thickness
  • Soak the cut potatoes in the ale
  • Leave to soak for 30 minutes in a fridge

Drain beer and toss in olive oil, chopped garlic, salt and pepper and place on a baking tray.

Bake for 40 minutes to one hour depending how you crispy you like your chips, tossing them at half time.

Serve with garlic and chive mayonnaise and the other Timothy Taylor Landlord.
