A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman in Rochdale

Shortly after 4.30am on Saturday, 11 October 2014, police were called after a 24-year-old woman was raped in an alleyway in off Bury Road, Rochdale.
Following a media appeal and the publication of an E-fit image on Rochdale Online, police received information that led to the arrest of a man this afternoon, Friday 17 October 2014.
The man remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Aston, said: “We have had a great response to our appeal and the arrest we have made is as a direct result of information received from the public.
“I want to thank the community for their response to our appeal, which has been fantastic.
“We are continuing with the investigation into this awful attack and remain determined to identify and bring to justice the person responsible.”
