Crime Prevention Advice

Recently Rochdale North officers have noticed an increase in burglaries where the offenders have entered addresses via insecure doors and windows.

Also theft from motor vehicles have suffered in this way due to victims leaving windows open or doors unlocked.

It only takes moments for opportunist thieves to let themselves into your property through a door or window which has been left open or unlocked.

Don't make it easy for a criminal to get inside and steal your valuables.

To reduce the risk of becoming a victim take simple steps of ensuring your property and vehicles are locked and secure.

There have been leaflets drops in the areas concerned advising the public to be vigilant in and around their property and to contact police if there is suspicious activity in the area. The leaflets also highlight the potential risks of becoming a victim and emphasise the need to ensure property and vehicles are locked and secure. The leaflets also highlight the need for the public to keep valuable belongings and vehicle keys out of sight to prevent ‘hook and cane’ burglaries.

Officers will continue to locate offenders and ensure they are dealt with and target those known to be involved in this type of crime.
