Murder investigation launched after body of a woman found

Date published: 27 August 2014

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found in Heywood.

At around 1.35pm on Tuesday 26 August 2014 Police were called to an address on Boleyn Court, Heywood, after reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attended and found the body of a woman believed to be in her 40s.

Formal ID has not yet taken place and a post mortem is due to take place this evening.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Richard Eales said: “Officers from GMP’s Major Incident Team are currently working to try and establish the circumstances that lead to the woman’s death and the investigation is very much in its early stages.

“The news will obviously concern those in the local community and there will be an increased police presence in the area. If you have any worries about what has happened, please speak to your local officer.

“Although no arrests have been made as of yet, we do not believe members of the public are at risk.

“I would ask anyone who has any information to phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
