Three North West MEPs appointed UKIP's spokesmen

Date published: 30 July 2014

Three North West MEPs have been appointed as UKIP's spokesmen for leading portfolios.

Paul Nuttall, who is the party's Deputy Leader, is spokesman for Education, Skills & Training, Louise Bours is in charge of the Health portfolio and Steven Woolfe is Migration spokesman.

They are among a raft of spokesman announced by UKIP leader Nigel Farage in the run-up to next year's General Election.

Mr Nuttall said, "I am delighted to have been asked to take on this extra responsibility as it is an area in which I have a particular interest, having been a history lecturer."

Ms Bours said, "There is no doubt that the health service is one of the most pressing issues facing this country and it is an honour to have been given this responsibility."

Mr Woolfe, who is also retaining his role as Financial Affairs spokesman, said, "This is a very exciting challenge going into a general election.

"UKIP won the migration debate in the European elections, but I know we can win even bigger if we make some space for a positive message on migration which answers the concerns of the public while also recognising the contribution that many migrants have made to our society."
