Rochdale Council Cabinet meeting as it happened

The local council tax support scheme is discussed first. This is a review of the scheme with councillors discussing options for consultation. The report gives an update on the current scheme and offers comparisons of schemes across Greater Manchester. Councillor Farnell states that he wants to help ease the struggle that some people have paying council tax.

Universal Credit Implementation is next. The report outlines the details of the implementation programme for Universal Credit provided by the DWP. Applications for Universal Credit will have to be made online and will require people to have a joint bank account.

The revenue report for 2013/2014 is next. The report focuses on the overall position for the council of the year ending 31 March 2014.

The savings for 2013/2014 is next. The council has identified savings of £15.098 million for the year.

The collection fund is discussed next. The report shows that the council has a deficit of £3.7million from Council Tax and Business Rates.

The revenue finance update for 2014/2015 is next. Economy and Environment report an over spend. Adult Services, Children’s Services and Financial services all reported an under spend.

The Capital Finance Update is next and councillors agree the report.

The collection fund update for 2014/2015 is next. Councillor Alan Brett wants to see council tax paid by direct debit by everyone.
