Woman assaulted while holding a baby

Date published: 28 July 2014

A woman was assaulted while holding a baby.

Shortly after 5.30pm on Wednesday 23 July 2014, police were called to a house in Heywood, following reports a woman, 30, was assaulted while holding her baby.

The assault knocked the woman unconscious, causing her to suffer serious injuries and the baby a minor injury.

Other people at the address at the time were also assaulted and threatened.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

As part of the ongoing investigation detectives are appealing for help to trace John Lamb (22/12/1981), who has links to Heywood and Rochdale.

Detective Inspector Caroline Ward, said: “To assault a woman is an appalling incident in itself, but to attack a woman holding a baby elevates the seriousness to an even more unpalatable level.

“A young mother has suffered nasty injuries as a result of a violent assault and it is fortunate that her baby did not suffer more serious injury.

“We need to speak to John Lamb in connection with this incident and I would urge anyone who knows where is to call us.

“If he is seen he is not to be approached.”
