TLC Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign launch

Date published: 25 July 2014

The TLC Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign was launched on Tuesday 22 July.

Touch, Look and Check (TLC) is a local non-profit making organisation, established to raise awareness of Breast Cancer, support women to attend Breast Screening appointments and campaign for improved services in the Rochdale Borough and Greater Manchester areas.

The organisation is run by a group of local people, many of whom have been affected by Breast Cancer either personally or within their family.

The event was launched by Dr Paul Laker, Clinical Vice Chairman of HMR Clinical Commissioning Group and Jim Dobbin.

Christine Abbott, project co-ordinator, said: “The project launch was extremely successful, and is just the first of many events and activities planned to raise awareness of Breast Screening and Breast Awareness over the forthcoming months"

TLC has been funded by Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale CCG Social Investment Funding.

“We are thankful to Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale CCG, who through their grant will enable us to have a greater presence in the community and help us to raise awareness of both TLC and the importance of breast screening to women locally, increase screening rates locally and ultimately help local people beat the disease,” Christine added.
