MDNGHT and Fickle Friends join Rochdale’s Feel Good line up

Two more bands have been added to the 2014 Rochdale Feel Good Festival lin up and MDNGHT and Fickle Friends will take to the main stage on Saturday 30 August.

Manchester based disco-tinged house act MDNGHT released their debut EP ‘Into the Night’ last year, introducing their effortless melodies, catchy choruses and slow burn house rhythms. The collective (J, Will, Ant and Lloyd) have had storming receptions at festivals across the UK, including BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend this year in Glasgow. They draw on influences from Chic, Kool and The Gang to Claude VonStroke, taking house music and adding a touch of soul. Their hypnotic beats and energy will certainly capture the crowd in Rochdale!

They’ll be joined by Brighton synth rockers ‘Fickle Friends’ – tipped for great things in 2014, the pop five piece released their first track ‘Swim’ this year and followed it up with the foot stomping ‘PLAY’.

MDNGHT and Fickle Friends join the previously announced The Selecter and headliners Scouting for Girls for the free show on Saturday 30 August, plus others still to be announced. The main stage will be opened by the local winner of this year’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition.

Richard Farnell, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Rochdale Feel Good Festival always delivers a strong line up, and this year is looking like the best yet, with a fantastic mix and something for everyone. The event has set a remarkably high standard in recent years and our audiences appreciate it … we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors, old and new to Rochdale this summer.”

Rochdale Feel Good Festival is staged on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August. There will be live music across indoor venues, a main stage against the backdrop of the town hall, a community stage on the Esplanade and a festival market. Chefs including Ainsley Harriott, Andrew Nutter, Aazam Ahmad and Peter Clough will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the event, which will also include a food market.

More acts will be confirmed next week.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council, together with sponsorship from local businesses including Rochdale Online, RRG Toyota, Rochdale Observer, Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, Carillion, Balfour Beatty Living, Rochdale 6th Form College, 96.2 The Revolution, The Flying Horse Hotel, Hopwood Hall College, Mango Bar, Rochdale Exchange, Link4Life, Public Health and the Maskew Fund.
