The flag of St George raised at the Town Hall
St George’s Day (23 April) was celebrated with a flag-raising ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall.
The flag of St George, which flies alongside the Union Flag outside the town hall all year, was raised at 10.00am to celebrate the patron saint’s day for England.
A council spokesperson said: “We are proud to celebrate St George’s Day and this year was no different. There was a great turnout for the flag-raising ceremony and we hope to build on the day’s success next year.”
Free face-painting was offered to young and old, both at the flag-raising ceremony and then on Yorkshire Street later in the morning, where the St George’s Day celebrations continued.
