Callum Little is electric!

Date published: 22 April 2014

Callum Little, 19, from Middleton, was a winner as electrical installation students from across the borough pitted their skills against each other students recently at the first inter-college competition.

Callum won the Level 3 competition and was presented with his trophy by Neil Bainbridge, Hopwood Hall College’s centre director for technology.

Over 20 students from Trafford, Warrington, and Hopwood Hall College, competed in the tasks, which included creating a lighting circuit. The judges were looking for quality of the installations, compliance to regulatory requirements, how aesthetically pleasing the installation was and also how quickly it took to complete the tasks.

The competition was a chance for the students to practice the skills they have been learning at college and meet with other students from across the borough. The students are at different levels of study and as such, at the end of the competition, three winners were chosen, one for each study level.

Hopwood Hall College now hopes to hold an inter-college competition every year, as everyone who took part commented on how much they had enjoyed the competition and meeting students from other colleges.
