Rescue operation to save foal in River Roch
Date published: 18 April 2014
The fire brigade was called to rescue a foal in the river at Roch Valley Way at 1.00pm this afternoon (Friday 18 April).
Members of the public were trying to rescue the foal when two fire engines from Rochdale, one form Oldham and the water rescue vehicle from Eccles arrived.
Fire officers tried to coax the foal out rather than lift it out and they put an inflatable hose in the water to stop the foal going further downstream.
The foal eventually managed to clamber out and was re-united with its mother.
