Dog destroyed after two people attacked in Rochdale

Date published: 08 August 2022

A dog has been “humanely destroyed” by police after two people were attacked in Rochdale on Friday night (5 August).

Police were called to reports of a dog loose on Morley Street at around 9.30pm where it was found that two members of the public had been bitten by the dog.

Police – who have not revealed the breed of the dog – say it was “acting in an aggressive manner.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police added: “Unfortunately, due to the nature of the incident, the dog was humanely destroyed as a safety precaution due to the number of people in the area and the injuries caused.

“Enquiries are ongoing. No serious injuries were reported.”
