Littleborough care home rated ‘Good’ following unannounced inspection

Stansfield Hall Care Home in Littleborough has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after an unannounced inspection in October last year.

The residential home on Temple Lane, Littleborough that cares for adults aged 65+ was marked as ‘Good’ overall by the national healthcare watchdog in the five domains of being safe; effective; caring; responsive to people's needs; and well-led.

The home was individually marked as Good in all areas apart from effectiveness, which was marked ‘Outstanding’. The inspector described the service as ‘exceptionally effective’.

Stansfield Hall Care Home is a large detached property in its own grounds, surrounded by open countryside. The service provides accommodation and personal care for up to 22 older people, some of whom are living with dementia, and at the time of inspection there were 17 people living at the home.

The report published in December by the independent regulator said, ‘staff were extremely vigilant to all aspects of people's healthcare needs and had helped to maintain people's good health’. People living there also ‘felt safe and secure’ as staff provide ‘high quality care and remained up to date with good practice’.

The CQC report further described how residents are ‘respected as individuals' and are responded to ‘in a very person-centred way’ as 'staff had a really sound knowledge of the people they supported'.

‘The service was extremely sensitive to people's needs at the end of their lives’ and ‘was well led by a management team who were highly involved in the day to day running of the service’.

Concluding the report, the inspector wrote: 'People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice'.

We have a commitment to providing a continually high standard of care for our residents and as a team we continue to work together to enhance the quality of life to both the residents and their families.

“The inspecting officer was a delight to have and really engaged with staff and residents. I would like to thank him for a wonderful report in recognition of our home’s efforts.

“We have been invited to an award event for our 5* Oral Hygiene award at the end of the month and we plan to gain many more over the coming months.
