Man arrested on suspicion of rape

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in Rochdale during the early hours of Tuesday morning (3 September).
Police were called to the subway on The Esplanade, shortly before 3.15am, to reports that a woman had been raped.
Officers attended and a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody for questioning.
The woman – who is in her 30s – is being supported by specially trained officers.
