Reason: to hold the Rochdale St George's Parade

Expected start and finish:

  • Closure of The Esplanade: 2.30pm-4pm on Sunday 28 April 2019.
  • Closure of Vicar's Drive, Sparrow Hill and Church Stile: 2pm-3pm on Sunday 28 April 2019.
  • Temporary prohibition of waiting: 12noon-4pm on Sunday 28 April 2019.

Restriction and location: temporary:

  • closure of The Esplanade from its junction with Manchester Road, St Mary's Gate and Dane Street to its junction with Newgate, including the entire enclosed car parking area in front of Rochdale Town Hall.
  • closure of Vicar's Road for its entire length.
  • closure of Sparrow Hill from its junction with Vicar's Drive to its junction with Church Stile.
  • closure of Church Stile from its junction with Sparrow Hill to its junction with School Lane and Church Lane.
  • prohibition of waiting at any time along The Esplanade, both sides from its junction with Vicars Gate to its junction with Newgate, including the entire enclosed car parking area in front of Rochdale Town Hall.

Alternative route: any alternative routes available will be signed on street.

Reason: to repair damage after a landslip.

Expected start and finish: midnight, Monday 7 January 2019 - midnight, Tuesday 30 April 2019 as required when weather is permitting.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Ashworth Road from a point 170 metres east of Black Dad Lane.

Alternative route: the alternative route will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

Reason: the restrictions are required on:

  • Ings Lane so away team supporter coaches can park while attending matches at Spotland Stadium
  • Willbutts Lane so supporters can vacate safely away from the stadium.

Expected start and finish: the restrictions will only be in place on event days at Spotland Stadium between 0.01am Friday 1 March 2019 - 23.59pm Tuesday 31 December 2019 when required and will be signed on site when in place.
Restriction and location: temporary:

  • Closure and no waiting at any time on Ings Lane along the east side, from its junction with Phoenix Street to a point opposite its junction with Lisbon Street.
  • Closure of Willbutts Lane from its junction with Sandy Lane to its junction with Churchill Street.

Alternative route: the alternative route for Ings Lane is Rooley Moor Road and Edenfield Road. The alternative route for Willbutts Lane is Sandy Lane and Edenfield Road.

Reason: to resurface the footway and carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am Monday 22 April - 5.30pm Saturday 27 April 2019.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Foxholes Road from the junction of Blanche Street to a point 118km in a south westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Blanche Street, Greenbank Road, Dewhirst Road, Fieldhouse Road, Whitworth Road, Princess Street, Regent Street and Taylor Street. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Reason: to repair a retaining wall next to the highway.

Expected start and finish: 7am Monday 29 April - 12midnight Wednesday 31 July 2019.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of one lane of the carriageway for a distance 120 metres west of 1220 Edenfield Road. Traffic will be managed at this point by 2-way temporary traffic lights during this period.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am Tuesday 7 May - 5.30pm Wednesday 15 May 2019.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Gale Street from the junction of Whitworth Road to a point 25 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Gale Street, Norton Road, Dewhirst Road, Binns Nook Road, Fieldhouse Road and Whitworth Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Reason: to replace a gas main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am Monday 22 July - 5.30pm Monday 2 September 2019.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Daveyhulme Street, from the junction of Halifax Road to a point 10 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Athol Street, Red Lane and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Cook Street, from the junction of Halifax Road to a point 10 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Bishop Street, Canon Street and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Reason: to hold the Middleton St George's Day Parade.

Expected start and finish: 2pm-4.30pm on Sunday 28 April 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of the following:

  • Church Brow - from its junction with St Leonard's Street to its junction with Long Street.
  • Long Street - from its junction with Church Brow to its junction with Durnford Street.
  • Durnford Street - from its junction with Long Street to its junction with Rectory Street.
  • Rectory Street - from its junction with Durnford Street to its junction with Wood Street.
  • Wood Street - from its junction with Rectory Street to Middleton Gardens. 

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the parade, it is not necessary for an alternative route to be in place.

Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 

Expected start and finish: 8am Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm Wednesday 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

Reason: to make room for temporary traffic lights and a pedestrian walkway while a scaffold is erected on the north side of Grimshaw Lane.

Expected start and finish: 8am Monday 25 March 2019 - 6pm Thursday 25 April 2019.

  • Restriction and location: temporary no waiting at any time and temporarily suspend the 1 hour maximum stay, Monday-Saturday 9.30am-4pm, on the south side of Grimshaw Lane, from a point 15 metres east of its junction with Glen Grove for a distance of 50 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: due to the nature of the restriction, no alternative route needs to be in place.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure to vehicles of Don Street from its junction with Oldham Road to a point 140 metres north of its junction with Oldham Road.

Alternative route: there is no alternative route for vehicles. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure to vehicles of St Leonards Street to vehicles between Morton Street and St Leonards Passage.

Alternative route: alternative route for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in place.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Preston Street for its entire length.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Boothroyden Road from its junction with Boothroyden Close for the remainder of its length in a southerly direction.

Alternative route: there is no alternative route for vehicles. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

  • Mount Street - from its junction with King Street to its junction with Manchester Street.
  • Manchester Street - from its junction with Mount Street to its junction with Church Street.
  • Church Street - from its junction with Manchester Street to its junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way.
  • L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way - from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Market Place.
  • Market Place - from its junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way to its junction with Bamford Road.
  • Hartley Street - from its junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way and Church Street to its junction with York Street.
  • York Street - from its junction with Hartley Street to its junction with Market Place.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Cedar Avenue and Furness Avenue.

Restriction and location: temporarily closure of:

  • Queens Park Road – from its junction with Holland Street for a distance of 17 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Willow Street – from its junction with Queens Park Road for a distance of 5 metres in a easterly direction.

Alternative route: the following alternative routes can be used:

  • The alternative route for vehicles using Queens Park Road is York Street, Market Place, Bamford Road and Starkey Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles using Willow Street is John Street, Hardman Street, Queens Park Road, York Street, Market Place, Bamford Road and Starkey Street.

Reason: to facilitate drainage improvement works.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am Tuesday 28 May 2019 - 6pm Saturday 1 June 2019.

Restriction and location: temporary one-way working and temporary no right and left turning:

  • Introduce one-way working in a southerly direction along Middleton Road, from its junction with Sycamore Avenue for a distance of 79 metres in a southerly direction in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Middleton Road in a northerly direction from its junction with Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout to its junction with Sycamore Avenue,
  • Introduce one-way working in an easterly direction along Glamis Avenue from its northerly junction with Middleton Road for a distance of 12 metres in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Glamis Avenue in a westerly direction from a point 12 metres east of its junction with Middleton Road to its junction with Middleton Road,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manoeuvre from Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road in a northerly direction,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Glamis Avenue (its northerly junction with Middleton Road) onto Middleton Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles travelling along Middleton Road in a northerly direction and wishing to continue over the Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road is via Coronation Avenue and Manchester Road.

Reason: for the protection of the public while work is undertaken on the new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 25 November 2019.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of unnamed footpath from Bramhall Close to Elizabethan Way, from Elizabethan Way for a distance of 46 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Milnrow Road from its junction with Smithy Bridge Road to its junction with Woodheys Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Smithy Bridge Road, Halifax Road, Albert Royds Street, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Rochdale Road, Bridge Street, Kiln Lane and Wildhouse Lane.

  • Royds Street from its junction with Sheriff Street for a distance of 30 metres in a northerly direction.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Timbercliffe from outside property number 7 for a distance of 185 metres, around the loop back to property number 7.

Alternative route: any alternative route for vehicles will be signposted when the closures are in place. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

  • Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.
  • Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.
  • The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday 8am-7.30pm Saturday 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.
