Reason: to install a new manhole in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am, Monday 7 January 2019 - 6pm, Monday 21 January 2019.
Restriction and location: 

  • temporary closure of Claybank Street from its junction with Cedar Avenue for a distance of 27 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Cedar Avenue and Furness Avenue.

Area: Heywood
Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am-3.30pm every day, Thursday 24 January 2019 - Thursday 7 February 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Egerton Street, from its junction with Coomassie Street to a point 25 metres west of its junction with Wilton Grove.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Coomassie Street, Wolsey Street and Wilton Grove.

Reason: to replace a frame and cover in the carriageway. 

Expected start and finish: 7am-10pm, Sunday 27 January 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary:

  • One-way working in a northerly direction along Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Margaret Street to its junction with Bridge Street.
  • No turning right from Pilsworth Road onto Bridge Street.
  • No turning left and right from Bridge Street onto Pilsworth Road.

Alternative route:

The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Pilsworth Road in a northerly direction and wishing to turn right onto Bridge Street is Bridge Street, Peel Street, Cherwell Avenue, Bank Top Street, West Starkey Street, Bamford Road and Market Street.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Bury Street in a easterly direction and wishing to turn right onto Pilsworth Road is Peel Street, Cherwell Avenue, Bank Top Street, West Starkey Street, Bamford Road, Market Street, Bridge Street, Bury Street, Bury New Road, Heap Brow and Moss Hall Road or alternatively via Bridge Street, Dawson Street, Bamford Road, Market Street, Bridge Street, Bury Street, Bury New Road, Heap Brow and Moss Hall Road.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Bridge Street in a westerly direction and wishing to turn left onto Pilsworth Road is Bridge Street, Bury Street, Bury New Road, Heap Brow and Moss Hall Road.

Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Bradshaw Street for its entire length.

Alternative route: there is no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be provided to businesses if required and safe to do so. Pedestrian access won't be affected.

Reason: to facilitate the demolition and rebuilding of a chamber in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 6pm, Friday 15 February 2019 - 6pm, Sunday 24 February 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • prohibit vehicles from waiting along both sides of Argyle Street from a point 24 metres west of its junction with Melton Street to a point 15 metres west of its junction with Pilsworth Road.

Alternative route: the order will be in use in the locations and at the times required as indicated by cones placed on the highway.

Reason: to replace a frame and cover in the carriageway. 

Expected start and finish: 8pm-10pm, Monday 25 March 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Moor Street from a point 86 metres south of its junction with Bury Street for a distance of 30 metres in a southerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Bury Street, Rose Hill Street and Regent Street.

Reason: for the protection of the public whilst works are being undertaken on the new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm, each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 25 November 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Unnamed footpath from Bramhall Close to Elizabethan Way, from Elizabethan Way for a distance of 46 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

Area: Pennines
Reason: to replace the level crossing running rails across the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 11pm, Saturday 19 January 2019 - 6am, Sunday 20 January 2019. 
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Smithy Bridge Road from a point 50 metres north west of the level crossing to a point 50-metres south east of the level crossing.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Milnrow Road Littleborough, Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road Rochdale, Albert Royds Street and Halifax Road.

Expected start and finish: ongoing

Work being undertaken: 

  • Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.
  • Who to contact: for any issues about this work, please use the following methods to gain the quickest and safest possible resolution.
  • Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.
  • Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.
  • The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday, 8am-7.30pm, Saturday, 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.
  • Alternatively, please email expansionworks@virginmedia.co.uk with details of your address and preferred contact method.

Expected start and finish: midnight, Monday 7 January 2019 - midnight, Tuesday 30 April 2019 as required when weather is permitting.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Ashworth Road from a point 170 metres east of Black Dad Lane.

Alternative route: the alternative route will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: 

  • temporary cycle lane closure:
  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.
