Rochdale hospice gets cash boost

Date published: 15 October 2018

Springhill Hospice in Rochdale received a welcome financial donation this month following a successful fundraising drive by Heywood-based Logic Wealth Planning.

The hospice, that offers specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, has enjoyed an ongoing partnership with the team of independent financial advisers.

This year over fifty players took part in a charity golf day at Rossendale Golf Club. Staff from Logic Wealth Planning, clients and friends enjoyed the traditional 18 holes followed by dinner, awards and a raffle at the club house.

Yianni Theodorou, Managing Director, presented a cheque for £3,555 to Sophie Ansley from the hospice team.

He said: “This is our third year raising money for Springhill Hospice. The numbers involved and enthusiasm for the event increases every time, and it’s something we look forward to staging in the future.

“They do such incredible work, and we were lucky enough to be joined by Sophie from the hospice team for the evening awards. She gave an inspirational speech that helped everyone present fully appreciate the hard work that goes into running such an amazing facility.

“We must also thank Martin Hirst, from Barclays Bank, who boosted the fundraising with a £1,000 donation, and also took part in the golf day.”

Sophie Ansley, Springhill Hospice Events and Corporate Fundraiser, said: “Our relationship with Logic Wealth Planning is invaluable. Their continued support, participation in events, fundraising drive and passion for the hospice is one to be proud of.

“The partnership over the past few years has seen them become Hospice Business Buddies, participate in our Annual golf Day and then host their own fundraising Golf Day for the hospice.

“The hospice costs approx. £3 million per year, on average £9,300 per day, 70% of which has to be raised through community fundraising efforts.

“The funds raised from such events can go towards funding the transport running costs for our Day Hospice van for the year or for one patient to receive the full care they need from the Hospice.

“Our sincere thanks go to the whole team for the difference they are making.”
