Young men trying car door handles in Tonacliffe

Date published: 19 October 2017

Three young men were spotted during the early hours of Wednesday morning (18 October), trying car door handles in the Tonacliffe area of Whitworth.

Lancashire Police has requested residents in the area check their vehicles to see if anything has been taken, and to check CCTV.

One man, who was from Rochdale, was arrested after two of them made off into Healey Dell.

Some items – believed to have been stolen from vehicles – were recovered.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “At around 4am in the morning on Wednesday 18th October, a call was received from a resident around Tonacliffe Road to say that there were three lads trying car door handles.

“Police attended the area, two lads made off into Healey Dell with one lad from the Rochdale area being arrested and property believed to be stolen from vehicles being recovered.

“Please could residents around the Tonacliffe area check their vehicles to see if anything has been stolen and contact Lancashire Police on 101.

“It would also be helpful if residents could check their CCTV to see anyone's been captured trying car door handles or stealing from vehicles. Again, contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting LC-20171018-0137. Thank you.”
