Man snapped on ladder balanced on roof of transit van on blind bend in Whitworth

Date published: 21 July 2017

Whitworth’s most ‘fearless’ man was snapped three storeys up a ladder, seemingly oblivious to the dangerous situation underneath him on Tuesday (18 July).

The man was photographed standing on the ladder, precariously balanced on the roof of a transit van, without wearing any safety gear as he appeared to be repairing guttering.

The van was parked on double yellow lines on the blind bend on Market Street outside the former Reform Club.

Passer-by Kerry Bradshaw said: “I saw this on my way home. Couldn’t believe my eyes and it was right after the bend.”

Rachael Bennion joked: “You see this kind of picture and everyone laughs at health and safety training thinking ‘yeah, thank God that doesn’t happen these days’.”

However, Bob Yocom seemed to admire the man’s apparent lack of fear.

He commented: “That is the kind of guy I want working on my house. He isn’t scared of anything.”
