'Disgraceful' flytipping blights Milnrow countryside

Date published: 27 June 2017

A lorry-load of building waste dumped off Wildhouse Lane in Milnrow over the weekend has been branded ‘disgraceful’ by Councillor Andy Kelly.

In what appears to be a house and kitchen conversion, the waste has been dropped alongside Wildhouse Lane on a side road.

Councillor Kelly said: "This has to have been dumped from tipper lorry on Friday or Saturday.

"It's disgraceful that some people think it's okay to do this. The people who have had their house renovated probably won't know this has happened and some unscrupulous builder has effectively done this on their behalf.

“I've reported the offence to the council and I would urge people to keep an eye out for activity like this as it has happened in plain sight of the main road."

A spokesperson for the Council said: “We responded to two reports of fly tipping off Wildhouse Lane in Milnrow, this included wood and household items. The area was cleared on the same day and unfortunately on this occasion there was no evidence to enable us to track down the individual/s who carried this out.

"We continue to remain vigilant and combat fly tipping with our enforcement teams visiting over 400 reported incidents last month alone.”
