Over £5,000 worth of equipment stolen from Whitworth Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society

Date published: 23 June 2017

Over £5,000 worth of professional theatre equipment has been stolen from Whitworth Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society (WAMDS) on Monday.

The break in comes just two weeks ahead of their new production, John Godber’s Bouncers, a fast-paced comedy set against an 80s nightclub scene, which requires the usage of the stolen equipment.

The group has had support from nearby theatres in Rochdale, Bacup and Shaw who have offered their equipment on loan.

All items are spray marked with a gold WAMDS logo:

• Four moving heads in flight cases
• Two equinox swing battens
• Ten LED par cans
• A Sanyo projector

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “The offender has gained entry and stolen some lighting equipment and boxes of DVDs and games. Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made as yet.”

If you are offered or see of any professional lighting equipment with the WAMDS logo, please contact Andy Kelly on 07947 609277.
