Following our article, Danny was able to locate a woman, Sam, who had rescued Harrison from another address, one where he had had his whiskers cut off and left with what Danny describes as ‘cigarette burns’.

Harrison was living with Sam as ‘Sheba’ for the past few months.

Danny said: “Rochdale Online has been great; thank you for all your help. I really want to say thanks to Sam for saving Harrison, and for the public in helping me find him. Her home was spotless, she’d bought him a scratching post and toys and a litter tray and had really looked after him.”

Since returning home, Harrison’s personality has drastically changed from the cat Danny remembers, although Harrison was ‘happy’ to see him when he went to Sam’s address to pick him up.

The British Blue is usually friendly and bubbly, but has displayed unusual behaviour including swiping at familiar people and hissing. He has not yet been re-introduced to Danny’s other pets, for fear of injuring them.

“He won’t let anyone near him; he’s just in a ball on the couch with his head down,” Danny added.

Danny hopes Harrison will be back to his old self very shortly.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of the theft on Thursday 20 April 2017. It was deemed there were no criminal offences and this was a matter for the RSPCA.”

The RSPCA has been contacted for comment.
