Could you help make a difference for borough’s youth?

Volunteers who could help make a real difference to the lives of the borough’s young people are being sought.

Rochdale Borough Council’s youth service is looking for skilled volunteers who can share their knowledge and help children gain new skills they will benefit from in the future.

Over 18s can volunteer in youth centres, on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, in sports sessions, arts and craft sessions and in performing arts, among many other activities. There are also opportunities to work with young people who have disabilities.

Whether volunteers are skilled in DIY, computing, music production or any other talent, people with enthusiasm are needed to inspire future generations.

Volunteers will have access to training in youth work and quality supervision, as well as a fantastic opportunity to build their skills, CVs and confidence, while having a great time with the young people of the borough.

Residents who are interested in volunteering their time are being urged to come along to a drop in event to find out more on Tuesday 28 March from 6:30pm until 8pm at Moss Street Youth Centre, Rochdale, OL16 5NL.

Councillor Donna Martin, Rochdale Borough Council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Our young people need positive role models in their lives to help them really thrive, so if you have a skill whether it’s sports coaching, playing an instrument or doing crafts, why not volunteer and share it with the younger generation?! Volunteering can be truly rewarding, challenging and exciting for you as well as making a real difference to the lives of our borough’s children; so come along to the event and find out how you can make that difference.”
