The Feel Good Festival has kicked off in Rochdale town centre, with lots of people braving the rain.

As the main stage is set up ready for Saturday’s live music, plenty of warm up activities are available, including performances from Skylight Circus, Can’t Dance Can, and some family theatre from ‘The Marvellous Imaginary Menagerie.’

Rochdale’s celebrity chef Andrew Nutter made a special appearance for a live cookery show, revealing some of his cooking secrets.

Despite heavy downpours all afternoon, lots of people took to the town centre to explore and the reports were all positive.

Steve Chambers, who has been coming to the Feel Good Festival since the first year, said: “That’s the thing about Rochdale, when everyone gets together and something is going on, nobody cares about the weather. It could be thunder and lightning and we’d all still be here enjoying ourselves. Tomorrow will be the bigger day with all the music, and we don’t care if it’s raining.”

The festival continues on Saturday, kicking off at 11am with more family theatre and live music.

Local star Becky Langan will take to Stage Two at 11.30am, followed by ComedyClub4Kids, Turner’s Dance Academy and the M6 Youth Theatre.

The big names on the main stage in the evening are The Twisted Dolls, Boomin and The Fratellis.
