John Farrow offers reward after having £3,000 of equipment stolen

Date published: 18 August 2016

John Farrow has offered a reward to help him trace thieves who smashed into his van and made off with £3,000 of “vital” equipment.

John, who runs Rochdale firm Alliance Maintenance Services, said he was woken up by young men on quad bikes just before the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning (17 August).

Among the stolen goods, which John relies on to do his work, were hammer drills, a circular saw, jigsaw, impact driver and a 110v transformer, all of which vanished in the incident.

He said: “The police need to do something about these quad bikes going up and down the road at God knows what time in the morning, but this is another matter.

“This is my livelihood, my work. I can’t do anything until I replace my tools. They’ve taken about £3,000 worth of stuff as well as damaging my van. They basically smashed through the back door.

“I’ve got a family to feed. The little scumbags need to be caught.”

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they were called to the incident.

A GMP spokesperson said: “An unknown instrument was used to break into the vehicle and offenders got away with a various items which are of high value.

“It’s thought that the offenders made off on a quad bike or quad bikes. We are appealing for information to try and track down those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
