Rochdale-Bacup Branch: A History

Date published: 20 May 2016

An article on the Rochdale-Bacup branch and its stations, written, collated and researched by Alan Young, has been published on the 'Disused Stations' website.

Mr Young's geographic skills show up in the detailed interpretations of the many historic map sections that are included. There are over 400 photos, some of which haven't seen the light of day before (such as a Hughes Baltic tank starting the climb to Britannia at Bacup with a two coach train).

Local STORM members have played an important part in providing material and photographs for the project.

The article is said to contain more information about the Facit branch than has ever been published previously and several facts come to light as a consequence of the research carried out.
