Levellers front man Simon Friend to play the Flying Horse Hotel this weekend

Date published: 28 April 2016

Hundreds of people are expected at the Flying Horse Hotel this bank holiday weekend to see a special celebrity guest take to the stage at the Sausage, Cider and Sound Festival.

Tickets have been selling fast to see a performance from Levellers front man Simon Friend who will make a special performance on Saturday night (30 April).

The Sausage, Cider and Sound festival, the first of its kind in Rochdale, has been described by the landlord as a “warm up” for this year’s Feel Good Festival, with ten live bands throughout the weekend.

Eight real ciders will be on sale, with a special menu with various locally-made sausage dishes.

Owner and landlord of the Flying Horse Hotel Ben Boothman is proud to be bringing celebrity names to town. He said: “There are a lot of music fans in Rochdale, we know that from the amount we get in here when there is any live music event on, but this is going to be a little bit different.

“The Levellers are of course quite a famous name and Simon Friend is known to a lot of people for his hits back in the 90s. It’s great to be able to welcome him here for the Sausage, Cider and Sound Festival and I can’t wait to see the turnout.

“We’ve got some cracking real ciders on as well, it’s going to be a superb bank holiday weekend.”

The festival will run on Friday and Saturday evening (29 – 30 April). Tickets are £12 and are available from the Flying Horse bar, or call 01706 646412.
