Debbie Ford and Rob Potts appointed as new Assistant Chief Constables of GMP

Debbie Ford and Rob Potts have been appointed Assistant Chief Constables of Greater Manchester Police.

ACC Ford is currently at Northumbria Police and was Temporary Assistant Chief Constable responsible for crime and operations.

ACC Potts has been Temporary Assistant Chief Constable within GMP since June 2015 responsible for public protection and the Operational Communications Branch.

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said:" We had five high calibre candidates in the process which shows Greater Manchester is an attractive place to work.

"Debbie brings extensive experience in another busy area and will bring new ideas to help drive forward the changes to policing. Rob has been committed to Greater Manchester for more than 20 years and has led many high profile investigations and has been in charge of South Manchester and Salford.

"They both have a huge amount of experience that will be invaluable to ensuring we can provide the best possible service to communities."

ACC Ford has 22 years’ service with Northumbria Police and has been head of crime in charge of public protection, serious and organised crime, intelligence, homicide and major enquiries.

ACC Potts grew up in Greater Manchester and joined GMP in 1992 working in South Manchester leading at a time of change, Stockport, Salford, Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale. He has also worked in Crime Operations and Specialist Operations.
